Indonesia is the outlier on this list, and the most interesting one. There is almost no Indian diaspora demand here. What there is instead is an enormous existing appetite for marble soda in its Japanese form — single brands move hundreds of thousands of bottles a month through Indonesian marketplaces alone. The product sells here on its own merits, to Indonesians, with no nostalgia attached. That makes it the only market where we compete on the bottle rather than the flag.

Imported processed food must carry an ML registration number issued by BPOM before it can be sold, and the registration is held by the Indonesian importer, not by us. That means the importer relationship is structurally sticky in both directions — expensive to start, expensive to leave.
Standard duty on beverages is meaningful, but the ASEAN–India trade agreement reduces it substantially against a Form AI certificate of origin. Claiming that preference correctly is one of the largest single cost levers in this market, and it is routinely missed.
